Zied Jouini

Zied Jouini is a pioneering DJ and producer whose career spans more than three decades of electronic music. He began DJing professionally at the age of 17 and quickly made a name for himself in the early European techno scene. By the age of 19 he had already secured a residency in a club with a capacity of 3,000 people, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey through the global underground.

In 1992, Jouini released his first techno record “Nana” under the project name N.U.K.E., which reached the Top 10 of the European charts. The success of the record took him around the world as both a live act and DJ, including a memorable performance at the legendary Limelight in New York City in 1993.

Throughout the years, Zied Jouini has explored a wide spectrum of electronic music. His projects range from techno and acid to hardcore, including the well-known project Frankfurt Terror Corp. He was also among the first German DJs to perform at major Dutch rave events such as Megarave, Erotic City, and Thunderdome. In earlier years he also released music under aliases such as DJ Q and DJ Qiu, both of which appear on numerous production credits.

Since 2000, he has been performing and producing under his real name, Zied Jouini. Known as a passionate vinyl DJ and a true gear enthusiast, he collects both vintage and modern synthesizers and drum machines, which he uses to create house, techno, and acid music with an authentic analog spirit. His DJ sets often pay tribute to the energy of early techno, rave, and classic house.

Jouini was also co-owner and music producer of Chrash Records and Liquid Records. His music has been released on respected labels including Great Asset, U.L.R., Rave Age Records, A.F.U. Records (Thomas P. Heckmann), Wavescape Records, Music Man, Flying Records, as well as his own revived imprint Pingouin Musique.

Deeply rooted in the Frankfurt underground, Zied Jouini remains a dedicated artist who continues to bridge the past and present of electronic music — as a producer, vinyl DJ, and lifelong ambassador of the techno culture and now resident at the cult club for electronic music in wiesbaden – basement.
